David Porter
David Porter is an inspiring performing artist who is also a broadcast journalist, radio show host and rapper. He recently graduated from the University of Maryland with his degree in broadcast journalism. While he was a student at the university, he was the Terps’ mascot, “Testudo,” the first freshman to hold this responsibility. His dynamic “swag” he brought to sporting events, commercials and university programs earned him the title of “Most Collegiate Mascot” by the National Cheerleaders Association. This same energy he brings to his role as The Magic Music Man. He believes that performing as The Magic Music Man gives him a opportunity to encourage youth through hip-hop the same way it encouraged him throughout his childhood. He currently hosts a hip-hop talk radio show called, "Affirmative Rappin" on WMUC 88.1 FM. The radio show, which he started five years ago, is now the most popular program on the station. He’s received recognition from Harvard University for his work in broadcast journalism and worked with CNBC, BET, and NBC. He’s also known as “Paperboy Prince of the Suburbs” when he performs as a rapper and MC.
