Beauty & Quality of Life

The Music in Me Foundation International’s Beauty & Quality of Life program provides teen girls in the Washington Metropolitan Area fighting life-threatening illnesses like cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, blood disorders and cystic fibrosis, as well as other chronic and terminal diseases, with hope and a chance to “sparkle.”

Beauty & Quality of Life enables young girls and teens battling illnesses to feel beautiful inside and out while enduring harsh side effects like hair loss and weight changes—even during long hospital stays. We accomplish our mission through special events and girly swag bags full of feel-good items like cosmetics, jewelry, iTunes gift cards,

Michele Amira was 11 years old when she learned to read and write. She was only 14 years old when she was contracted to write Sparkle—the same age as Diamond in the story. Sparkle is based on the young author’s own struggles and victories, fighting a rare life-threatening illness, confronting bullying, dealing with school and just being a teen. Today, Michele is a professional hip-hop journalist, radio DJ, stand-up comedian and student.

autographed copies of Sparkle by Michele Amira, cuddly items and so much more. We donate hundreds of girly swag bags to the Children’s National Medical Center, The Transplant Center for Children at Georgetown University Hospital and Simcha Chai Lifeline Camps, and we hope to extend our reach into other Children’s Miracle Network hospitals and camps across the country.
